The Liberation of the Garden Gnomes
Hugo, the garden gnome of Paul’s grandmother, has been kidnapped. Needless to say, Paul and his sister Hanna have to take over. Mimosa, the cat, knows exactly what has happened, but somehow her hints are difficult to understand. There are many suspects anyway: Dédé, the guest from France with her mysterious nightly phone calls and wannabe detective attitude; Markus, an art student and part-time gardener who has made some queer remarks on the garden gnomes in the neighbourhood; and, last but not least, Hugo, who admires grandmother but despises garden gnomes, especially those bearing his name…
Based on a true story, Lene Mayer-Skumanz has written another pointed, captivating, elaborated whodunit. It is entertaining and thrilling, fascinating and inspiring, and, most of all, funny. “To me, humour is an essence of life. It often hides in serious matters,” says Lene Mayer-Skumanz.
